omgvids
Current Mood : sleepy
Currently listening To: No Place Like London - Sweeney Todd
I can't believe the amount of rubbish videos I forced myself through just to find something nice and worthy of a blog post. I could probably think of a million better things to do right now, but I guess it was pretty worth it in the end.
At least. It better be.
This time I decided to try something new, a website called omgvids.com. Working similarly along the lines of Youtube, omgvids provides videos that supposedly compells people to go, well, omg. I guess. It has some pretty awesome videos in store. Some awesomely dumb and retarded, some an awesomely waste of time. However there are some rather gem-like quality videos that I thought was worth my attention.
There's one I found highly intriguing, where a female leopard babysits and play surrogate mother to a baby baboon. A clip from a National Geography documentary, the video shows how a vicious predatory big cat's maternal instincts reaches out to protect even it's natural enemy. So unreal. But it makes you think again that in this world anything is possible. Love and compassion really does go round.
If even natural enemies could have compromises and strange bondings such as that in the video (albeit rarely), it's probably possible for world peace too. No more wars and stuff. Haha maybe that's a little too far to percieve by just one video, but that's what I strongly believe. =) Yay me.
Here's another. Got a Smiling Addiction? is a music video with a community message. Makes you realize that in today's world we're really abusing our smileys. I know I do... cause I use them all the time for most occasions. So much so that it's become second nature to me.
If you read my blog long enough you'd notice anyway. it's everywhere! But the real topic is the smiling smiley..... this one =)
I would put smilies in online conversations even when I don't feel like smiling, or when all I want to do is beat the crap out of the other person I'm having the conversation with. I'm sure many of us does the same from time to time. Smileys tends to make people think everything is okay. This movie depicts how we always show people things are just fine by putting up a fake front, and bottle up our depression. Why, because honestly nobody wants to know your problems I guess. Asking how are you has become only a polite gesture.... their smileys are but a sign of politeness, to show that they 'sort-of care' when really they couldn't be bothered.
Ah... I think I'm going to suffer depression after thinking about this any longer. =<
Oh. And I just found out that most vids on omgvids.com you can find on Youtube anyway. Well not really a huge surprise there.... it's just that I find videos load faster in omgvids.com compared to YouTube.
